Photo: A Porch at the Grand Floridian

A Porch at the Grand Floridian at Walt Disney World

On our visit to Walt Disney World this past summer, I discovered this porch while we were at the Grand Floridian Resort. I liked how you can see the Polynesian Resort from here, as well as one of the Grand Floridian wings, the Alice in Wonderland water play area, and even several palm trees around Seven Seas Lagoon. What a great view!

I actually saw it while we were inside one of the shops, and I tried to get a photo while looking out the window, but the reflection from inside the shop was too much to handle. So instead, we walked outside and I got in the corner of the porch right beside the window that I had been looking out to get this photo.

Of course, being that this is the Grand Floridian and not the Mediocre Floridian, I’m sure that they have some more official sort of name for this area than just a porch. Because “porch” just doesn’t sound grand enough for a hotel like that. Maybe it is a “portico.” Or maybe it is just a simple “elegant outdoor seating area.”

But where I come from, we call something like that a porch. Which might just explain why we haven’t ever stayed at the Grand Floridian.
