Photo: Laura Hits the Waves

Laura Hits the Waves

Or instead of “Laura Hits the Waves,” maybe this photo should be titled, “The Waves Hit Laura.” I’m not really sure who is doing the hitting here. Maybe they both are. Fight! Fight!

Anyway, here you can see Laura heading out with her board to try to catch the perfect wave. None of that stand-up surfing for us, though. We just stick with body boards, because those are much more suited to our skill level. Maybe one of these days we will try actual surfing, or maybe not.

We enjoy going out with our boards and trying to catch good waves. There isn’t really any pressure to it, unless you feel pressure to not embarrass yourself in front of little kids that seem to be able to ride every wave that comes along. I keep telling myself that their success has to do with their small size and not that they are really better than we are. But for whatever the reason, every now and then we can catch a really good wave and ride it almost all the way to the shore. We say, “That was the perfect wave!” And then we go out and try to catch another one just like it. In the hopes that there isn’t just one perfect wave.
