Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day! Here I am with my Valentine (that would be Laura, of course) in a rose-tinted photo from this past summer. Back when it was warmer, unlike the cold temperatures of today and the threat of winter weather in the few days ahead.

I sometimes wonder if Valentine’s Day was created by stores and restaurants as a way to boost business during one of the coldest times of the year. “Sure, everyone wants to go out and buy stuff when it is warm and sunny out, but sometimes people need some extra encouragement to do so in the winter. So let’s make them feel obligated to do it out of love!” Maybe that didn’t really happen, but good luck finding a table at a restaurant tonight, no matter what the temperature is outside.

But seriously, Happy Valentine’s Day to my beautiful bride. Did you know that we were engaged on this date back in 1993? Yes, it’s true. And an easy date to remember now, too.

However, for me Valentine’s Day is also a reminder that I am about to turn a year older. But that is another story for another time…
