Boring Video: Recording a Podcast

The latest Burnsland Boring Video comes to you courtesy of the Beyond the Berm podcast. Because said video is a look at recording my part of the podcast.

If you have listened to our podcast, you have probably picked up on the fact that I am in Tennessee, and Matt Walker of StartedByAMouse.com is in California. So no, we don’t buy plane tickets and fly across the country every other week to get together to record our podcast episodes. Rather, we just talk on the phone, and each of us records his part of the conversation, and then those two parts are merged together into one file to create the podcast. Much better sound quality than something like recording a conversation over Skype.

So in the video, here I am in our computer room talking into a microphone. As you can see, I apparently talk with my hands a good bit. Too bad the podcast doesn’t pick that up. And just to make it a little less boring for you, a whole 50 minute podcast is condensed into about a 30 second video, thanks to the time lapse camera only taking a photo every 10 seconds.

The music, by the way, is “Game Show” by the Burnsland Orchestra, which also just happens to be the theme song for Beyond the Berm.

Anyway, enough about the video. Here it is.

About the video: Filmed with a GoPro camera in time lapse mode, one photo every ten seconds, and then edited in GoPro Studio Camera: GoPro Hero3+ Silver
