First Day of School

First Day of School

Monday was the first day of school, so here is the customary First Day of School photo. Because I wouldn’t want to be left out when everyone else is posting theirs. But I figured I would wait a few days to share my photo, just to help it stand out from the crowd a little bit.

If you are keeping score, this was Jaylin’s first day of seventh grade. And it was Laura’s first day of Junior Kindergarten, for the 21st time. They both looked happy to go, as you can see, and they both had good days overall.

Because it was Jaylin’s first day at a new location, that meant that it was my first day of seventh grade, too, because I went to the parent meetings in the morning. It was great to see several other parents that I had gone to school with, several teachers that I had gone to school with, and several teachers that had been my teachers when I was in school there, too. That’s the nice thing about a school like Harding Academy - it really is one great big family.

I remember my first day of seventh grade at Harding very well, as well as all of the great years that followed. And all of the elementary years before that at Harding, too, of course. But the high school years are more relevant. And Jaylin is probably already tired of hearing how things were when I was there. But I have a captive audience in the car for our rides to school in the morning, so that is probably bad news for him.

Here’s hoping that everyone has a great school year!

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline. - Proverbs 1:7

About the photo:
This was just a quick photo in the morning before Laura left to get to school really early. No special lighting, except for the ceiling fan light in our bedroom. But the people in the photo are quite special.
A single RAW exposure, processed in Photoshop. Read more about the photo software and gear I use at the camera gear page.
