Piranha at the Georgia Aquarium
A piranha swims past us at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. Don’t worry, we were separated by a thick layer of glass. And this always reminds me of the scene from the Disney animated version of Tarzan, where Tantor’s mother is telling him, “There are no piranha in Africa.” Funny scene.
I haven’t been to all that many aquariums in my lifetime, so it is interesting that I have been to two in the last few months, in Chattanooga and Atlanta. And it was interesting to see the different exhibits and different layouts that they had.
And because I haven’t made many aquarium visits, it was interesting to photograph something like this piranha that isn’t really anchored to anything. I didn’t have to worry about making sure I got the ground that the piranha was standing on in the frame, because he wasn’t touching anything. I just had to make sure I got all of the piranha himself in the frame. Interesting.
And I was also impressed by how colorful he was. All you usually know about piranhas is that they are flesh eaters, although they probably don’t attack humans quite as often as you might think. But besides all of that, these piranhas at the Georgia Aquarium were full of color. Pretty cool!
