Laura and Steve on the Teen Retreat

Laura and Steve on the Teen Retreat

Here we are at the recent Bartlett Woods Church of Christ Teen Fall Retreat. I know what you are thinking: we look about five years too old to be teens. And you would be right, give or take 20 years. No, we weren’t there as teens. Although it wouldn’t be the first time we were mistaken for a couple of kids. We were there as adult helper chaperon type people, doing what we could do to help make things go smoothly. And it was a really good weekend, in my opinion. Perfect weather, a great group of young people and adults, good spiritual messages, and some fun and games, too. What more could you ask for?

Interestingly, in this photo we are both wearing shirts from past Harding Academy 5K runs, even though neither of us is a runner. We have walked some of the events in the past, but these days we usually just pay our money to support the cause and sign up as “ghost runners.” Which means that if we actually tried to run it, we would quickly be ghosts. And also if you are wondering, that stuff up by the neckline of my shirt is silly string. I won’t name names of who sprayed me with it, but it was Laura.

We don’t have that many photos of the two of us together, because I am usually the one with the camera. But while we were outside for some of the games, er, team building activities, our friend Jean Ann Robbins took a photo of us with her phone, and then she asked if I wanted her to take one with my camera. Which was nice of her, because I was about to ask her the same thing. So here we are, photographed by Jean Ann. It is great to have friends who will do things for you!

A house and wealth are inherited from fathers, but a sensible wife is from the Lord. - Proverbs 19:14

About the Photo

As I mentioned above, photo by Jean Ann, processing by Steve. And the fall afternoon sunlight was just perfect that day, too. While I usually would use the 25mm f/1.8 lens for shots like this, I happened to have the 14-42mm lens on the camera to get some wider shots, since there were several people in each group participating in the activities. This turned out well with that lens, too.

A single RAW exposure, processed in Photoshop. Read more about the photo software and gear I use at the camera gear page.
Camera: Olympus OM-D E-M10
