I was glad to see that some of the signature places of the former Downtown Disney West Side at Walt Disney World stayed just as they were when the whole place changed to Disney Springs. We have never actually eaten at most of these places, but it was still nice to see that they are still there.

After all, who doesn’t love a place whose architecture includes a giant pineapple and a canopy of large fake palm trees? With a real palm tree right outside for good measure, of course.

If I had decided on architecture as a career, this is just the sort of building that I would have wanted to design. But I know that most architects don’t get to do anything as interesting as this, for whatever reason. It’s a shame that so many buildings these days look the same, and that building owners aren’t willing to take chances with the designs of their buildings. But those chances cost money, and most everyone wants to build something as cheaply as they can instead of taking a risk.

As a quote that I saw the other day said, “When you are presented with two options, choose the riskier one.” That may not work in every situation, but it can certainly bring about some interesting results sometimes. Playing it safe has always come easy to me, but maybe just a little too easy. Gotta step out on the edge every now and then, I’m learning.

But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" - Matthew 14:30-31

Those dark clouds really weren’t quite as dark as the processing makes them look here, but those were the result of the passing Tropical Storm Colin. It went a good bit north of where we were, but it still brought a lot of rain to the area for a couple of days. And some pretty cool clouds, too.

As with the words above, I went with the slightly riskier photo processing here, just to make this photo stand out a bit. Maybe you have seen Bongos before, but maybe you haven’t seen it quite like this.

If you want to know what the photo looked like before I worked on it, here is the before-and-after comparison:
