This photo of the Crossroads of the World is actually an old photo, if you hadn’t guessed by the “Old Photo” part of the title of this post. This one was from all the way back in 2008, actually. Not old as in ancient, but old as in several years ago. When I think about it, 2008 doesn’t seem like that long ago. But then I see how young Jaylin looks in some of the photos from that trip, and in some ways that makes it seem farther off in the distance. After all, he was only just about to turn 6 years old on that trip, and now he is 14 years old and as tall as we are. So maybe 2008 was more than a few years ago after all. “Ain’t it funny how time slips away,” to quote Willie Nelson.

This photo was from our first visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Sort of. Before 2008, the park had been known as Disney-MGM Studios. So we had been there many times before, but this was our first visit under the new name. Also, you can also see the large Sorcerer Hat peeking out from behind the Mickey & Company building on the left. That is another clue that this photo isn’t quite recent, because the hat has been gone for a little over a year now. I actually really like how you can just get a glimpe of the hat here. Sort of like it is saying, “Psst! Hey! It’s me, the big hat! Don’t forget that I used to be here!” As if large Sorcerer Hats could talk or something.

I thought that from time to time it would be fun to go back to some photos from days gone by and take another look at them. Maybe some different processing, or maybe discovering photos I hadn’t done much with before. After all, I have taken lots of photos on lots of trips to lots of other places, including Walt Disney World, and I haven’t always shared all of them for one reason or another. So watch for more Old Photos as time goes by.

I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread. - Psalm 37:25

About the Photo

One of the joys of pulling out old photos is seeing how you can process them differently now, compared to what you could do with them back then. I don’t know that I had ever worked on this one before, but I’m sure that if I had, it wouldn’t have looked quite like this. And this photo really came a long way from how it started off straight out of the camera. Take a look at this before-and-after version to see the difference:
