On Top of the World

On Top of the World at Pinson Mounds State Park in Tennessee

Laura and I are on top of the world at Pinson Mounds State Archaeological Park in Tennessee. Okay so it may not actually be the highest place in the world, but to the Indians who built these mounds, this was the top of their world.

We had climbed to the top of Sauls’ Mound, the largest of the mounds at Pinson Mounds, and the view from there was really neat. So of course a photo was in order.

Jaylin took this photo of us, and he did a pretty good job. Of course, Jaylin isn’t quite as tall as we are. And if we just give him the camera, the photos come out looking up our noses, which may not be our most attractive features. But here, he stood on the bench that went all around the observation deck, and that put him on our height.

Also, he really doesn’t have much luck using a camera with a viewfinder, so I always have to turn on Live View on my camera, and then he does much better.

Remember back in the old days when you had to look through the camera’s viewfinder to take a photo? Just another way to make me feel old.
