Wisdom is Watching

Wisdom is watching at the Shelby County Courthouse in Memphis, Tennessee

A statue of Wisdom watches over one of the entrances to the Shelby County Courthouse in Memphis, Tennessee.

These classical statues stare down at you as you enter the Shelby County Courthouse. Except for Justice, because of course Justice is blind, so she isn’t staring at anyone because of her blindfold. But Wisdom here gives you a look as you walk his way. It is too bad that he can’t use that big stick in his left hand to knock some wisdom into people as they enter or leave. Because sometimes I think that is the only way that people will actually get wisdom these days. And even that may not be enough for some people.

On a completely different note, does this courthouse entrance remind anyone else of the courthouse shown during the opening credits of Night Court? Because that is what it reminds me of. Or maybe I just used to watch too much TV.
