The Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World

Ariel, the Little Mermaid herself, is found as a ship’s figurehead outside of Under the Sea: Voyage of the Little Mermaid in Fantasyland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

I like all of the details around the new Little Mermaid ride, including the use of Ariel on the shipwreck in front of Prince Eric’s castle in the background. And personally, I like how everything has a weathered look to it. Back in the old days, Walt Disney always instructed everyone to make everything look new, but I like how it looks like everything in this area has been there for quite a long time. Not to say that Walt was necessarily wrong, of course, but giving things an aged look makes them look more authentic to me. Nothing wrong with that.
