Belle's Village at Walt Disney World

Belle’s Village in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World

Belle’s village is part of the new Fantasyland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Actually, this photo doesn’t show much of the village, but rather it shows the forest that separates Maurice’s cottage on the left from the Beast’s castle on the far right. And also there is the gentle stream that flows between the two, adding to the picturesque beauty of the place.

Much has been said about the Fantasyland expansion, but here are my thoughts on it. Overall, I thought it was just okay. I really liked the Little Mermaid ride with the hard-to-remember name. And I thought the whole area looked really neat. But to me, it was missing that big “wow” factor. Maybe the Little Mermaid ride was supposed to be the wow part. Or maybe the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train that is still under construction is the wow part, and we just don’t have it yet.

I did enjoy the Fantasyland expansion for what it was. I just felt that it was missing something, although I can’t quite say what that was. I will definitely ride the Little Mermaid ride again, and I will give the Mine Train a chance when it opens. One of these days, I may even brave the line to see Belle or eat at Be Our Guest. Maybe. And then I will go enjoy another ride on Pirates of the Caribbean or the Haunted Mansion.

About the photo:
This was one of those times when the clouds were filling the sky. We had a nice blue sky earlier in the day, but then the clouds came in. And it is difficult to get a good photo without blowing out the cloudy sky. Maybe I should have tried a 3-exposure HDR photo here. Maybe I will try that next time.
A single RAW exposure, processed in Adobe Lightroom. Read more about the photo software and gear I use at the camera gear page.
Camera: Canon EOS 60D
Lens: Sigma 10-20mm

Let the fields and everything in them exult. Then all the trees of the forest will shout for joy before the Lord, for He is coming — for He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness and the peoples with His faithfulness. - Psalm 96:12-13
