Mickey Pool on the Disney Dream

The top deck of the Disney Dream gives an overview of the main pool area, including the Mickey Pool. I’m sure you can guess why it is called the Mickey Pool. Although if you try to make sense of how his arm must be turned to get his hand coming up out of the deck while his head is facing that way, it might make your head hurt. So let’s just not think about that, okay?

For most of the day, the pool and the whole area around it are packed with people. But as we were walking by on our way to breakfast, I noticed that there were very few people around, so I got this uncrowded view. The only downside is that the funnel behind me left a bit of a shadow on the lower left of the frame, but hopefully it isn’t too distracting.

About the photo:
I had a difficult time getting this one to look straight. Of course, most of my photos tend to lean to one side or another anyway, no matter how hard I try to hold the camera level, and I usually have to tweak them slightly to get them properly oriented. This one was no different. However, it still looks a bit off to me. But I think that is mainly because of the lack of symmetry in the photo. Even if you stand right in the middle, things won’t be symmetrical, because the tube for the Aquaduck coaster is higher on the left than on the right, which makes sense because it works with gravity to keep you moving through the tube. But gravity or not, it still makes the photo look like it is leaning. A bit of an optical illusion, I suppose.
