A Sunny Day on the Disney Dream

A Sunny Day on the Disney Dream

The sun shines above one of the funnels of the Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Dream. This was actually one of my favorite photos of the ship from our cruise last summer, and I was a bit surprised when I realized that I hadn’t posted it yet.

This photo was actually taken soon after we boarded the ship, long before we ever actually sailed. And it was one of the few times that there weren’t many clouds in the sky, too. Not that the clouds made the cruise bad by any means - we still had a great time. The sun is great. But it is hot, and it also burns those of us with fair skin. So in a way we had the best of both worlds with some sun and a lot of clouds. Those who were wanting a good suntan were a little disappointed, I’m sure, but I was okay with it all.

This photo does have a good bit of sun flare, especially at the lower center of the photo. I don’t mind it too much overall, but that’s the chance you take when you have the sun in your photo, I guess. But maybe if I hadn’t mentioned it, you probably wouldn’t have noticed it all that much. So just forget I said anything about it.

I’m not really sure why you can take some large red thing and throw a stylized Mickey Mouse logo on it, and it suddenly becomes a cool photo feature. But that is how things seem to work for Disney. And I fall for it every time.

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. - Psalm 84:11
