Jaylin's Last Basketball Game

If you saw the recent post “Football vs. Basketball,” then you know that Jaylin has been playing basketball this winter. And while I may have complained slightly about the schedule at times, the games were often exciting, even when our team was losing by more than a few points. Which actually describes most of the games.

They had their last game last week, which was the second game of a tournament. They played well, and they stayed close for a while, but the other team came out on top.

I took my camera along to that game to see what I could do. I am definitely not a “sports photographer,” and I didn’t even go stand under the goal to try to get some close-up action shots as some parents did. I intentionally left the settings to get some motion blur instead of trying to get those professional-looking photos that stop all of the action. I will leave those to others.

So here are a few photos from the game:

Jaylin’s Last Basketball Game

This was actually during the warm-ups before the game, which explains why there weren’t any people around. I never know how much Jaylin might get to play, so I thought I would get a photo or two of him with the ball while he had it.

Jaylin’s Last Basketball Game

Jaylin goes for a shot! Unfortunately, he missed it, but it still looked pretty good in the photo.

Shooting a free-throw. He was fouled on one of his shots, so he got to take two free-throws. He missed the first, but he made the second, seen here. This was actually the only point he scored in the game, so I will stop telling you whether he made or missed his shots.

Another shot. Where was the rest of his team? He had made a fast break down the court, and it took his teammates a few more seconds to get there.

Look at that leap!

One more shot over the opposing team. And an even bigger leap than before.

Jaylin hasn’t decided yet whether he wants to try basketball again next year. But somehow I don’t think that this last game will really be his last game. Because he likes anything with a ball too much to just quit entirely.

Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. - 1 Corinthians 9:25
