Photo: Gargoyle Light Post in Fantasyland

Gargoyle Light Post in Fantasyland at Walt Disney World

Gargoyles hold the light posts on the pathway to the Beast’s castle in Fantasyland in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Of course, the Beast’s castle is actually the home of the Be Our Guest restaurant. And perhaps the reason these gargoyles look so grumpy is because they don’t have a reservation.

This was from our visit last year after we had finished our Disney Cruise. And we didn’t have a reservation, either, so this was about as close as we got to the restaurant. I did enjoy seeing all of the details, such as these guys.

For those curious, this photo was created using different “exposures” of a single RAW file and blending in the parts that I wanted using layer masks. I especially wanted to bring out the clouds in the sky and the texture on the gargoyle. Here is a peek at the original photo before I did anything to it:

Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. - James 1:12
