Daily Photo: Reitz Ravine Woods

Reitz Ravine Woods at the University of Florida in Gainesville

The University of Florida in Gainesville has become one of our usual stops on our Florida trips over the last few years. It is a pretty nice place to walk around for a little while.

On this trip as we were driving to the bookstore, Laura happened to see a sign that said, “Conservation Area,” and it looked like there was a trail through it. So we walked back down that way and found the Reitz Ravine Woods Conservation area, which is adjacent to the Reitz Union.

And there was indeed a trail through it. Part of it was paved, part of it was dirt, and part of it was an elevated boardwalk. Just our kind of thing.

Once we had gone through the trail and were making our way back to the bookstore, I saw this view and I thought the juxtaposition of the light pole against the trees and Spanish moss was nice. And I like saying “juxtaposition” whenever I can, too.
