Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World

When we are at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, one place we always like to eat is the Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland.

Originally, this restaurant was called El Pirata Y El Perico, which translates from Spanish as The Pirate and the Parrot. Apparently, that name was a little bit cumbersome. Or perhaps it was just that they wanted to tie the restaurant in even more with Pirates of the Caribbean the ride, which is right across the way, and Pirates of the Caribbean the movies, which sometimes feature Tortuga.

Fortunately for me, when they changed the name, they did not change the menu. So I can still get my delicious taco salad, and I can still pile up what I want on it from the toppings bar. I’m glad they didn’t take that away, because taco salad is always one of my favorite meals.
