Laura and Jaylin at the Walt Disney World Dolphin

Laura and Jaylin at the Walt Disney World Dolphin

Laura and Jaylin stand in front of the Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel in a photo from our Florida trip last summer.

Each year, we give some of our family members a calendar as a Christmas present. This was one of the photos featured in this year’s calendar. I had passed over the photo several times, but it jumped out at me when I was looking for calendar photos. And that was fortunate, because the photo turned out even better than I expected.

To get all of the Dolphin in the frame at such a close range, a fisheye lens is really necessary, and that is what I used here. The lens did distort some of the lines, causing some of the building towers to look curved, but personally I don’t mind a little bit of distortion if it gets more of what I want in the frame.

About the shot:
A single RAW exposure, processed in Adobe Lightroom. Read more about the photo software and gear I use at the camera gear page.
Camera: Canon EOS 60D
Lens: Rokinon 8mm
