Re: Knott's Berry Farm No. 41

Thanks for the video, Locoboy. I don't think I've seen her fitted with a footboard pilot, but I agree, the boiler tube pilot is more appropriate. She had the boiler tube pilot the last time I saw her at Knott's 18 years ago, so not sure when the footboard pilot was installed. The last vestige of &qu...

Re: Rare Badges On EBay

WOW! Those are great finds! I have never even heard of a "Trainmaster" badge, but from all appearances, it looks authentic. I have seen the driver of the motorized fire engine with a hat and badge but could never see the wording. "Motorman" might definitely fill the bill. Calling...

Re: Once Upon a Train Episode 3: SF&D Combine

I have an episode suggestion: How about one on the builder's plates for No.'s 1 and 2?

Re: does anyone know

Thanks for the explanations, Shane. Do you have any insight into the logic of placing the firing valve behind the fireman?

Re: does anyone know

I'm curious too! It looks like the firing valve at the far left of the photo, behind the fireman, which seems like a terrible place to put it. And the hand valve on the floor seems weird too. The only thing I can think of is that it's a water shutoff, since apparently there's an identical valve behi...
