Longest Steam Freight train in the 21st century.

Post by jmarch890 »

About 3:36 on this video is where the fun starts https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke6sp029vD0

Frisco 1630 at the Illinois Railway Museum pulled 135 coal hoppers on Sunday May 29th. It was the longest steam powered revenue freight train in the 21st century as far as we know. I was one of the fireman for this monster train. 1630 pulled it like it was in freight service again, not bad for a 98 year old loco. The sound from the cab was amazing. This just goes to show that a volunteer staff can restore, maintain, and operate a steam locomotive and have it perform and pull one #### of a train.
