Anyone interested in "Sarge" from cars?
Re: Anyone interested in "Sarge" from cars?
I found the color change one at Toys R Us, but they want $6 for it. My wife decided I didn't need it I didn't argue, she was at Wal-Mart today looking for stuff for me!

I have also noticed that TRU is kind of pricey. I’d found the “pit crew” set with the gas can Sarge for $15 and bought it because I wasn’t sure I’d see another one. Saw the same set recently at Target for $10.ktulu wrote:I found the color change one at Toys R Us, but they want $6 for it. I was at a comic convention in Seattle this morning and ran into the cover artist for the "Cars" comic book line, doing sketches on blank covers for any character. I asked him to do "Sarge" as I own a WW2 Jeep. He said I was the first person to ever ask for that.

Yeah, he was a pretty nice guy, too. What killed me was he had the original ink art for this cover:Unfortunate Bystander wrote:That's neat! Very nice.
He said it was for sale, too, for $100. Now, I did have that much in my wallet as I'd sold some stuff at a military show yesterday, but that seemed like it was likely a halfway decent deal, but I have no wall space for it anyway, so I reluctantly left it there...

I like the pencil sketch because it is made just for you. And you get to watch it be created, right in your presence.

Not a lot of new Sarge stuff out there right now, but I have noticed that finding the die-cast ones is much easier, they must pack more of them per crate because I see them most of the times I go to stores these days. No new versions out there that I have heard of.
I have, however, finally gotten one of the Australian plush ones (which is pretty well done, even if it’s a stuffed version), as well as a bouncy ball (about 2 inches across) with the character’s image imbedded into it. I need to get some photos of what’s new and post them here…

It's been a good time to be into Sarge, lots of good stuff is out there now. Just got the slightly larger size Sarge than the normal matchbox size, in a display case, the PVC plastic Sarge from the Cars 2 set, the Lego Sarge and the wooden one from Toys R Us. Even scored the tiny little soft rubber one and the mighty beanz one (I must be too old, as I just don't get the beanz thing at all).
This one, for example, is less than a quarter inch long:
I need to gather them all together for a group shot.
But the crown jewel of the collection is a signed 8X10 print from the voice actor who played Sarge, Paul Dooley!

Here's most of what I have so far. Just got the European plastic one with headset. I don't display all the ones I still have in packages as it takes up way too much room. I even have two Chinese counterfeit Sarges (didn't know they were knockoffs when I ordered them but they're both well made). The only one I'm really lacking that I'm trying to find is the plush Australian one from the sequel with the headset on. Note the framed photo in the back, which is mentioned in an above post...

Very nice! I gave up collecting the cars toys when 2 came out, running out of space (and money!)
