I probably won't visit it either. i do want to see disneysea and tokyo disneyland maybe paris but at another timeEd Kelley wrote:Give it time, only it will tell (that, and the attendance numbers). Two rather crude steam outlines still beat no railroad at all, especially since I will probably never visit it.
I can understand Disney not wanting to further invest in new steam and its required associated expertise, but still find it ironic how "pollution" was said to be the prime reason for not using steam. So the gasoline engine in my car puts out less emissions than propane-fired steam?
If I ever would sit through a 10-hour plane ride to see an amusement park, it'll be to see the impeccable theming of DisneySea and Western Village (home of the Waipahu, of course).

i loved thomas when i was younger, Edward looks great too don't forget about him either. i still think they should replace those engines( the ones at hong kong not thomas and freinds) with carbon copies of the ck holliday and ep ripley excluding the names and they should also make the third based on the g washington at paris minus the name and headlight portraits they would look cool and should be steam operated.

It's not the highest-quality picture in the world but here's a shot of the Roy O. Disney that I found on a Chinese website.

OK...I am really starting to dislike those trains.
I know how you feel and I feel the same way. The more I see of those three locomotives, the more I dislike the way they look.
I also don't like the Disney brothers' names on two of the locomotives. Having particularly Walt Disney's name on a steam outline locomotive is an insult, not a tribute. Having it on such an unrealistic looking locomotive is even more insulting.
Were any train buffs in charge of designing the look of the trains?

What "inventive" paint schemes...
Nice red 'saddle'...reminiscent of red crossheads, link blocks, and white siderods on the Quincy 2 back in the 50s!
I think the biggest problem over steam outline aesthetics is that "too smooth" look. As everything is fabricated, it lacks the "rough" look associated with a casting, and just doesn't look real. (take the 'smokebox', for example, on those engines and others)
I was under the impression Disney was seeking the "most realistic" steam outlines around, yet these don't look much different than the other standard SL engines in operation in Europe and beyond...complete with smoke systems, etc. I'm not complaining (it's not my problem), just commenting...
Have a look at THIS smokebox and compare...
