Disney-related CDs

Brother Bear - The soundtrack to the animated movie. Features songs written by Phil Collins, and performed by Phil and others. Read a review here.

Disney Songs the Satchmo Way - A great collection of Disney songs sung by Louis Armstrong in his own style. Some of my favorites here are "Ten Feet Off the Ground" (from The One And Only, Gemine, Original Family Band), "Heigh Ho" (from Snow White), and "When You Wish Upon A Star".

Finding Nemo (An Original Soundtrack) - The original score from the movie. Written by Thomas Newman, this score is a bit of a departure from the other PIXAR film scores by Thomas's cousin, Randy. Fun, yet emotional.

Happiest Millionaire - One of the last movies that Walt Disney personally supervised. The movie features wonderful songs by Richard and Robert Sherman, as well as great performances by Fred MacMurray, John Davidson, Lesley Ann Warren, and Tommy Steele. The songs range from funny to emotional. The CD also contains a song cut from the movie after its original release, as well as a demo for an unused song.

Home on the Range - A great soundtrack for the last (for now) traditionally animated Disney feature, this disc features new songs and score by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Glenn Slater. Read a review here..

The Incredibles - The soundtrack to the movie by first time feature film composer Michael Giacchino. Probably not the last we will hear from him. A wonderful retro 60s action hero jazz feel fills this soundtrack with great action scores and character themes.

Lilo & Stitch - The soundtrack from the movie. Perhaps the biggest draw for most people are the Elvis songs, some of his classic hits like "Devil In Disguise" and "Hound Dog". But the two new Hawaiian songs written for the film are quite catchy, and the Alan Silvestri score is fun to listen to as well.

Monsters Inc Scream Factory Favorites - Featuring new songs inspired by the movie Monsters, Inc., this award winning album is a follow-up to "Woody's Roundup". On this CD Riders in the Sky break away from their Western roots a bit to include some different style songs to keep with the style of the movie.

The Nightmare Before Christmas - The original soundtrack from the movie. Featuring great songs written by Danny Elfman, and a great performance by Elfman as Jack Skellington.

O Mickey Where Art Thou - A fun collection of bluegrass artists performing favorite Disney songs. Among my favorites are "You'll Be In My Heart", along with the final track, "When You Wish Upon A Star" performed by Ronnie Milsap. And this collection is notable because it contains not one but two selections from Dumbo, "Baby Mine" and "When I See an Elephant Fly".

Sleeping Beauty - The soundtrack from the classic Disney animated film. Disney studio composer George Bruns was given the challenging task of arranging and adapting Tchaikovsky's classic ballet score for the Disney movie. The results are great, and this CD captures the atmosphere of the movie perfectly.

Tron - The soundtrack to the first major motion picture to feature computer graphics is quite interesting. Wendy Carlos composed a score that combines synthesizers with full orchestra for a fascinating effect. Carlos, a noted musician, also performs the synthesizer parts. Two songs by Journey are also included.

Woody's Roundup - A collection of songs inspired by the movie Toy Story 2. These songs feature the award winning western group Riders in the Sky, who sang the song "Woody's Roundup" in the movie, which is also featured on this disc. The songs all have a western feel and are about the different characters from the movie. There is also a secret bonus track!
