Main Street Station

The Main Street Station, which opened in 1971, is the first building guests see when entering the Magic Kindgom, and the last one they see when leaving. Victorian in design, the station stands at the south end of Main Street, U.S.A. Underneath the station are lockers. Also underneath the station are signs giving the history of each of the Walt Disney World Railroad engines, as well as picture of the locomotives in their original state before they were refurbished for the Walt Disney World Railroad. Also included are pictures of Walt's Carolwood Pacific Railroad.

The platform at the rear of the station gives an elevated view of Town Square and the rest of Main Street, U.S.A. Many people like to watch the various fireworks and parades from this location, because it gives a vantage point above the crowds. It is also a good place to just sit and relax, watching the people walk on Main Street, listening to a concert from the Walt Disney World Marching Band in Town Square, or watching the trains arrive and leave.

Guests in the station can hear announcements about the arriving trains, the boarding call and the last call before the train leaves the station.

While sitting on the train and waiting to leave, guests can look out in front of the Magic Kingdom. They can see other guests arriving and leaving, monorails passing by and the ferry boats out on Seven Seas Lagoon. They can also view the Contemporary, Grand Floridian and Polynesian Resorts which surround the Lagoon. As the train is leaving the station, guests get one last glimpse of the monorail station before the train enters the jungles of Adventureland.
