What I Am Thankful For

As you probably know, Thanksgiving is tomorrow. Unless you are reading this at a time when Thanksgiving isn’t tomorrow. And if so, just remember that this was originally posted when Thanksgiving is tomorrow.

Anyway, here is what I am thankful for:

Happy Thanksgiving 2015

No, I’m not talking about the various old tractors there, although they are pretty cool. Rather, I’m talking about the two people in between the tractors. I am always very thankful for family, particularly Laura and Jaylin. I am also thankful for extended family, as well as friends who are as close as family, even though they aren’t in the photo. If you want to pretend that the tractors represent those extended family people, then you can certainly do so.

I don’t know how people make it without a good, strong family supporting them. And I also don’t know how people make it without a good, strong church family supporting them, too. Because family is great, but having a church family to fill in the gaps makes everything even better!

One of the cool things about my family is that we have fun no matter where we are or what we are doing. It could be on a cruise ship, on an island in the Bahamas, at a theme park in Florida, at a Civil War battlefield, with some old tractors a couple of miles from home, or even just right there at our house. Where you are and what you are doing aren’t as important as who you are with. Having a good family with you makes everything better, even if times aren’t quite always pleasant otherwise.

I am always thankful for a lot of things. For everything, really, because we have nothing except for what God has given us. But right up at the top of my list, I am definitely thankful for family. Especially a family who is willing to pose for a photo with a bunch of old tractors. They get me.

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever. - Psalm 118:1

I never stop giving thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. - Ephesians 1:16

Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. - Philippians 4:6

And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. - Colossians 3:17

We always thank God for all of you, remembering you constantly in our prayers. - 1 Thessalonians 1:2

Give thanks in everything, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. - 1 Thessalonians 5:18

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ! - 1 Corinthians 15:17

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift. - 2 Corinthians 9:15

Because it is hard pick just one Bible verse about being thankful.

About the Photo

This was taken at the Williston Old Timers Festival, held each year near our home. There was lots of beautiful, natural fall light landing here between the tractors, so it seemed like a good place for a photo.
A single RAW exposure, processed in Photoshop. Read more about the photo software and gear I use at the camera gear page.
