Big Thunder Mountain at Walt Disney World

Big Thunder Mountain at Walt Disney World

Big Thunder Mountain stands next to the Rivers of America, and under a threatening sky, in Frontierland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

And yes, the official name of the attraction is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. But I was mainly just taking a photo of the mountain, not necessarily the railroad. Of course, it would have been a better photo if the train had been on the tracks, but I didn’t necessarily have control over that. In some ways, I do like the abandoned look here, anyway. I also like how you can seen the Liberty Belle riverboat in the background, although I didn’t necessarily plan that, either.

When we are on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the train is about to leave, I always get a big smile when I hear, “…cause this here’s the wildest ride in the wilderness!” That brings back great memories of Dal McKennon, who says those lines, and the visit he made to our house several years ago. Fun times!
