Beast's Castle in the Magic Kingdom

Beast’s Castle in the Magic Kingdom

We stopped by the Beast’s Castle in Fantasyland on our recent visit to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. Actually, the castle is way back there, but I liked all the area that leads up to it as much as the castle itself high on top of the mountain.

The castle is the home of the new Be Our Guest restaurant. But we didn’t actually go in to be their guest because by the time we got back there, they were only letting in people who had dinner reservations. Sometime later we will have to drop by earlier in the day to see if we can have a look around, or maybe even eat there since they have counter service for lunch.

Before we got to see this in person, I was concerned that the castle itself would look way out of scale. To give away a not-very-secret secret here, the castle isn’t all that far away, but rather it is just built at a small scale to make it seem farther away than it really is. And in most photos, it looks rather obvious that it is just a miniature castle on top of some rocks. But in person, the illusion is much more believable. Hopefully, this photo does it some justice.

And the clouds were sufficiently ominous for what you would expect to find at an enchanted castle inhabited by a beast, so that was cool.
