Clouds at the Beach

Clouds dominate the sky above the beach at Lori Wilson Park in Cocoa Beach, Florida. But of course those clouds didn’t stop us from enjoying our day at the beach. However, the clouds that were coming in from behind me as I was taking this photo did stop us. Because they weren’t nice, white clouds. No, they were dark, ugly clouds. The kind with thunder and lightning. And of course rain. Some people might stay out in the beach in all that, but not us. Especially not with lightning. Rain isn’t so bad, because we are already wet anyway, but lightning is something different.

So if you are keeping score at home, here is the Burnsland guide to clouds at the beach: White clouds = good. Black clouds = bad.

You may also notice that the lifeguards were flying the yellow flag. That means that conditions are moderate, such as strong currents. It never was a problem for us, but while we were there one person got a little too far and had to call for help. So take note of the flag color as well as the cloud color.
