Photo: Clouds and Waves at Cocoa Beach
Sometimes you get a sunny day at the beach, and sometimes you get clouds. On this particular day, we actually had a mixture of both, although you can’t necessarily tell it here. But sometimes, the clouds mean that you don’t have to worry quite as much about your sunscreen working, which is nice. However, you can still get a sunburn on a cloudy day.
Sunburns are an interesting thing. They aren’t pleasant at all, but some people don’t seem to do enough to keep from getting one. Do they not know that the Florida sun is slightly more direct than it is back home? Or do they just not care? Every time we are at the beach, we see people with a pretty strong sunburn. I feel sorry for them, because I know it can be quite uncomfortable. Your clothes will hurt it, the sun hitting it will hurt it, the shower water will hurt it. Not fun. But anyway, how did I get started on this sunburn discussion, anyway?
Back to the photo. It wasn’t quite as bad as it looks here, although some rain did come up later. I may have tweaked the photo just a bit to make everything look a little more intense than it actually was. I layered in a different exposure (from the same RAW file) to bring out the clouds a bit, because that is the look that I like. And yes, I like getting low to get the view of the waves coming in as they are here. The trick is to make sure that you stand up in time so that your camera doesn’t get wet. Be careful!
