Welcome to the Burnsland Daily Photo Project!
The Burnsland Daily Photo Project is a new photo each day, usually based around a current theme. And what is the theme? For starters, the theme is photos that were taken around our house and our property.
A while back, I was looking for some way to improve my photography, and to perhaps develop some sort of thematic photography work. I tried to come up with some ideas for a theme, and I did have a few that I might try out later. But as I was out feeding our horses one evening and noticing what all was around me, I decided to use what we have around us as my theme for this.
Often, the things that you see all of the time become almost too familiar. You almost don’t even notice what all is around you, wishing instead to go somewhere to see new and different things. So the challenge here is to see what is around me in new and different ways, perhaps noticing things that I have never noticed before. It should be interesting to see how this turns out.
For the record, I intend for this to be a daily photo posting instead of one of those 365 projects of a new photo every day. In other words, I plan to post a new photo every day, but that photo won’t necessarily have been taken on that day, as the 365 photographers do. Nothing wrong with what they do, but I know that realistically, that wouldn’t work for me. But the photos that I post will at least be recent photos and not something that I have had sitting around for a while.
My intent is to stick to this first theme for an entire year. Will that happen? Or will I get tired of it and move on to something else? That’s a good question. I suppose you will just have to wait and see.
At my previous blog, The Adventures of Steve, I usually posted a photo five days a week. But those were often photos of our most recent trips, some of which weren’t all that recent. That blog will remain, but it will become more feature-oriented with longer posts containing multiple photos instead of just one photo each day.
This project will also be for exploring photo processing techniques, which I enjoy. I am never content with a photo straight out of the camera. Instead, I prefer to give my photos a somewhat artistic look, hopefully without going too far over the top most of the time. I would imagine that you will see a constantly evolving photo style here, which has always been the case with my photos, no matter where I have posted them. If I just do them the same all of the time, where is the fun in that?
Hopefully, you will enjoy what you see here. Feel free to leave feedback and let me know what you think. I would love to hear from you.
