Dumbo the Flying Elephant at Walt Disney World
Up, Up, and Away
Dumbo the Flying Elephant soars around in circles in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Actually, there are several Dumbos, as you can see, and not just one. But it is just a theme park attraction, so don’t spend too much time thinking about it or getting worked up over it.
This day, during our 2016 Christmas trip to Walt Disney World, was our first time to ride Dumbo in his new home in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland. Actually, we don’t usually ride Dumbo all that much. To me, it is not quite the most interesting ride that they have there. But it is still fun on occasion, especially if you do not have to wait very long in line. And that is what happened to us. We walked up, saw that there was a short wait, and decided to go for it. It helped that we had gotten there early for the Extra Magic Hours, too. So we swooped and soared and flew with Dumbo. Until the ride was over, of course.
Soaring Over the Magic Kingdom
Here is some proof that we were actually on the ride and not just standing underneath it the whole time. Laura and Jaylin were in the Dumbo behind me, although Jaylin was more interested in the scenery around him than looking at the camera. I don’t know who those people are in the Dumbo immediately behind them, but the next two Dumbos after that are the Riedels. When we travel in an odd group (odd in number, that is - keep your comments to yourself), someone usually ends up alone. Guess who it was this time alone on Dumbo? Bingo! Okay-o. That’s enough of that-o.
Interesting Thought
Even if they actually do invent transporters like on Star Trek, some people will still be late everywhere they go.

About the photo
It is a little tricky to turn around and take a photo of what is behind you while remaining in your seat with your seatbelt on. But that is what I did. Because I did not want to be the one who took off his seatbelt and got thrown off the ride.
For the second photo, in some ways it might have been better to switch to a zoom lens to get a closer shot of Laura and Jaylin, but I prefer the wide view like it is here, so that you can see more of the surroundings, like the mirror image Dumbo ride next to this Dumbo ride, and the cool fountain down below. Where I would not have wanted to drop one of my lenses if I tried to change it during the flight.
