Mobius the Christmas Goat

Merry Christmas!

Mobius the Christmas Goat

Mobius the goat wishes you a Merry Christmas! And while Mobius is not actually Santa Claus, he thinks it is fun to play the part from time to time. Mobius hopes that Santa is really good to you this year!

Mobius the Goat has appeared in various situations during this past year, becoming the more or less official mascot of Burnsland. But I think this one is my favorite so far. He makes a pretty good Santa. After all, he is a right jolly old elf, er, goat. Of course, all kinds of questions could be raised here. Does a goat have reindeer pulling his sleigh, or would that be too awkward? Do the children leave out milk and cookies or grass and tin cans? Maybe there is a reason that Santa Claus is a man and not a goat! But who says goats can’t enjoy Christmas, too?

Here’s hoping you have a very merry Christmas this year!

When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh. - Matthew 2:10-11

About the Artwork

After I had first drawn this, I put it aside, because I wasn’t all that happy with it. After that, I was not able to work on it for a while. When I picked it up again, I decided that I liked it better than I had remembered, especially after a few small modifications. And then once I added the background, with the snow and the tree and the snow goat, I liked it even better. It just took having a little time away from it to make me appreciate it more.

As is usual lately, this artwork was created using the Procreate iPad app and an Apple Pencil. And yes, I apparently have a standard Santa pose in my mind.
