A Palm Tree on Castaway Cay

Just One Tree

Palm Tree on Disney Cruise Line’s Castaway Cay

A palm tree stands on the Family Beach at Castaway Cay, the Disney Cruise Line’s Bahamas island, as the Disney Dream cruise ship is off in the distance. Along with some clouds. Lots of them. But the palm tree doesn’t seem to mind the clouds too much.

It seems a little odd to me that there was just one palm tree on the beach for just about as far as you can see. There are several more palm trees back behind the beach chairs and umbrellas, as you can see off in the distance. But this one seems to have wandered away from the rest. Maybe it is like that one child that never seems to stay with the group. Maybe it was thinking, “If I keep moving just an inch or two a day, I will eventually make it to the water!” Or maybe that tree has some significance there as if to mark something back up behind the trees.

I really have no idea why that one palm tree is out on the beach like that. And I suppose that it really does not matter. It did not affect our day there in any way. Except that it looks like it was posing for this photo, which was a friendly thing for it to do. After all, friendly photo subjects are the easiest ones to work with.

Good Memories

That 2017 Disney Cruise was about eight months ago now. In some ways, that seems like a long time. Some of the memories start to fade slightly, although I have plenty of photos to help keep them alive as much as I can. And there is the 2017 Disney Cruise Trip Report as well, written as much for me to remember it all as for you to be able to read about all that we did.

Fortunately, all the memories that I have of that trip are good ones. Any events that may have been slightly less than good have pretty much faded from memory. Yes, the clouds and the rain still linger, thanks to the photos, but those really were not all that bad, either.

Trips where you have only good memories are the best kinds of trips, after all.

Interesting Thought

If you go on a trip and do not take any photos, did the trip really happen?

Bible Verse

Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma. - Ephesians 5:1-2

About the photo

For this Castaway Cay photo, I did slightly more than what I usually do. I masked in a darker exposure from the original Raw file to bring out the clouds in the sky, as I often do and have talked about a good bit. But this time around, the palm tree that is the central focus of this photo was still a little dark. So I also masked in a lighter exposure from that same Raw file to lighten up the tree just a bit.
