DISNEYLAND RAILROAD LILLY BELLE PIN - CPHS CERTIFIED
This beautiful pin commemorates the Disneyland Railroad's Presidential car "Lilly Belle" and Walt Disney's live steam locomotive of the same name from his backyard railroad, the Carolwood Pacific Railroad, which once encompassed his whole backyard and part of the front of his Holmby Hills, CA home.
The Lilly Belle Presidential car at Disneyland was actually the observation car (Grand Canyon) from the original passenger train (Retlaw 1) that encircled the Park starting on opening day in July 1955. The train set was eventually taken out of service and put in storage and the observation car was later refurbished into a Presidential "Private" car for VIP Guests. It was named, as was his live steam locomotive, for Walt's wife, Lillian. The Lilly Belle Private Car still encircles Disneyland and can be seen almost daily at the Park.
The pin measures approx. 1-3/4" long by approx. 1/4" wide and has raised polished gold lettering and a red background with a broach style pin back. These pins are certified by the Carolwood Pacific Historical Society as being the original design created and owned by Walt Disney. A portion of the sales of these pins goes to the CPHS which is dedicated to keeping the knowledge of Walt's love trains ongoing as well as to educate children as to Walt Disney's legacy.
