Strolling Along at the Boardwalk Resort at Walt Disney World
Nice Day for a Stroll
During our June 2018 Florida trip, it was a beautiful day for a stroll around the Boardwalk Resort at Walt Disney World. In fact, you can see two people in matching blue shirts strolling in front of us. I have no idea who they are, but I liked what they add to the photo.
For whatever reason, we usually end up stopping by the Boardwalk Resort in the middle of the afternoon. Around that time, there are usually not all that many people out on the Boardwalk. I guess they are all waiting in line for the Frozen ride at Epcot, which is not that far of a walk away. Or maybe they are inside their hotel rooms, trying to stay frozen and avoid the Florida summer heat. It does usually get pretty warm out there, after all. Or maybe it is just our reputation proceeds us, and everyone scatters once they hear we are on the way over.
While I never mind not having a crowd around, the Boardwalk almost seems like a ghost town. A few people here and there can make a photo much better, like this one. They add little bit of life to the scene.
So thank you, random people, whoever you are!
Crowds
Christmas season is coming (don’t forget about Thanksgiving first, however). One of the things that always seems to accompany Christmas is crowds.
Stores always seem to be much more crowded during the Christmas shopping season. I guess those television commercials and online adds telling us that we need the perfect things, er, I mean that we need to give others the perfect things, are effective, because there are always more people at the stores. Or it could be that the earlier darkness each night takes away from people doing things outside, and so they decide to go to a store. But for whatever reason, there are more people at the stores.
In our past experiences, there are more people at Walt Disney World during the Christmas season, too. Especially as Christmas approaches. Some people are surprised to learn that the week between Christmas and New Year’s Day is their busiest week there, but it is true. I would imagine that other tourist places see surges in people around that time, too. Especially those in the warmer climates.
Even the roadways seem to be more crowded with cars. Maybe that is because of all of the people going shopping. Or going to Walt Disney World or some other vacation spot. For whatever reason, my drive home from work takes longer during November.
While I don’t mind people, I also enjoy avoiding large crowds whenever I can. Plus, I figure if I am doing my part not to contribute to the crowd size, that makes the crowd just a little bit smaller, too.
Crowds are great, but I don’t have to be in them all the time.

About the Photo
I really liked the final look of this photo. And not just because of the two people in blue shirts, either.
I did darken the sky a bit to bring out the blue color and the clouds even more. I lightened up the buildings to make them gleam in the sunlight. And I added some artificial sunlight color to make everything look just a little warmer. All of this was done with some standard Photoshop commands, and nothing too fancy. Sometimes simpler is better.
