A Sunny Winter Day

A Sunny Winter Day

New Year’s Day 2014 was a nice, sunny day, and even relatively warm. Warm enough that we could go out and do some things outside without feeling like we were freezing. I think at this time, it was around 50 degrees out. So Laura rode a horse (more about that in another post later on) while Jaylin and I played basketball. All with our winter coats on, of course. Because 50 degrees is still cold to us. Sorry for all of you who live up north and would love to have 50 degree days in the winter.

You can see Laura on Daisy underneath the tree in the center of the photo, and you can also see the neighbors’ four horses lined up near them, enjoying a nice nap in the afternoon sun.

About the Photo

There was quite a bit of lens flare going on here due to the sun, but I was able to remove a good bit of it with Photoshop, which is quickly becoming my new best friend. I don’t mind some sun flare and I think what is left looks just right, but what I removed was starting to get out of hand.

Three exposures (-2, 0, +2) tonemapped in Photomatix, processed in Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Read more about the photo software and gear I use at the camera gear page.
Camera: Canon EOS 60D
