Daily Photo: Hammock Trail in Florida

Before our trip to Cocoa Beach this year, we had been to Lori Wilson Park several times before, but we never did know about the Maritime Hammock Trail. However, if you are looking for a net to rest in between two trees, that isn’t the hammock that we are talking about here.

A hammock is also an elevated tract of land rising above the general level of a marshy region, according to Dictionary.com. Here, the boardwalk winds through the hammock, offering some nice views of the natural scenery found in this area. I’m sure you can also see wildlife along the way if you happen to be in the right place at the right time. But besides a few birds, we didn’t see any animals.

Being in the hammock area was really pretty neat. It is surrounded by the park on the north and south sides, by the highway on the west side, and by the beach on the east side. But even with everything right around it, the foliage was so dense that it felt like we were far away from everything.

Trails like this are some of the little things that we enjoy finding when we are out somewhere. No big thrills, just a nice walk through a natural setting. Nothing wrong with that at all.
