Photo: Evening on the Disney Cruise Line

Evening on the Disney Cruise Line

As the sun sets, the funnels of the Disney Cruise Line ships are lit up to show off the neat Mickey Mouse logo, as you can see in this photo of the Disney Dream from our 2013 cruise. Just as in the daytime hours with a blue sky, the red color stands out against the darkening sky quite well.

And yes, that is Donald Duck’s bottom half sticking out of the funnel near one of the AquaDuck tubes. If you aren’t familiar, the AquaDuck is a “water coaster,” which would be a water slide that doesn’t necessarily go down. There is some sort of back story of Donald’s nephews building it, and then when Donald tried it out, it didn’t go so well for him. So seeing him here is a pretty neat touch if you know the story. Fortunately, everything went just fine for us whenever we were on the AquaDuck, so that we didn’t become a permanent fixture on the Disney Dream, too.
