Castaway Cay Beach in the Distance

Castaway Cay Beach

Castaway Cay Beach in the Distance

The family beach at Castaway Cay is seen in the distance past the trees, foliage, and restroom building on the right. And some clouds, which were the theme of the cruise. This was one of the many views from our Disney cruise this past summer.

If you don’t know, Castaway Cay is the Disney Cruise Line’s island in the Bahamas. Stopping there is a highlight of a Disney Cruise. Unless, of course, you are on a cruise that does not stop at Castaway Cay. After all, it is difficult to make a quick run over to the Bahamas from Alaska. Or from the Mediterranean. Or from some other far-off location. But if you are fortunate enough to be on a cruise that does stop at Castaway Cay. You will be glad. Our cruise stopped there twice, actually. So we were doubly blessed. You can read all about it in the 2017 Disney Cruise Trip Report, by the way. Good memories.

Christmas Break

We are right in the middle of the Christmas season. But I thought it would be nice to take a break from Christmas photos for a bit to do something different. Maybe you aren’t even reading this in the Christmas season. Maybe you got here by searching for “Castaway Cay” or “beach photo.” Or maybe you saw a link on Facebook or on Pinterest or somewhere. So it may not even be anywhere near Christmas as you are reading this. Which is fine, too.

But anyway, as of this writing we are right in the middle of the Christmas season. Which means that we are in the cold weather season as well. So that was my other reason for taking a break from the Christmas photos to post this. Just to have the thought of something warm.

By the middle of December, we have already had temperatures in the low 20s a few times. And others even farther south of us have had several inches of snow. I know some people like that sort of thing, and that is perfectly fine. But the cold winter days just remind me of how nice the heat of summer is when we have that. A change of seasons is nice, but for me it just helps me remember how good we have it in the summer.

Anyway, back to the Christmas photos the next time around.

People are weird. I am people. Draw your own conclusions.

About the photo

When we are at Castaway Cay, I like to spend some time just wandering around with my camera to see what I can capture. We don’t have scenes like this back at home, after all. This photo really wasn’t anything special. Just a quick shot as I was walking along. But to me it very nicely captures the feel of Castaway Cay, reminding me of what it was like to have a beach just around the corner. That’s what I like about photography, after all.
