When work first started to enlarge the Central Plaza (often referred to as “the hub”) at the Magic Kingdom, I was skeptical of it all. After all, I have always enjoyed the waterway that surrounds the plaza, creating a boundary between Main Street USA and the other lands of the Magic Kingdom. Would all of that be taken away?

As it turns out, much of that waterway remains, although some of it has now been filled in. And I do imagine the extra space that the work created makes it a little easier for crowds to move, or for crowds to have more places to stand during the fireworks at night. You might notice the green fence in the background, which indicates that the work wasn’t finished when we were there this summer, so I will be interested to see it all completed on a future visit.

There were already some character statues in the center of the Central Plaza around the Partners statue, and those have always made for some good, creative photo opportunities. Although I hadn’t planned anything out, I saw this statue of the chipmunks as we were walking by, and I thought it would make a good photo with the fountain and the castle in the background. So even with the fence there, I am still happy with how this turned out.

A person’s insight gives him patience, and his virtue is to overlook an offense. - Proverbs 19:11

About the photo:
This is another photo where I was trying out the recent high-key-type processing that I have been using lately. And I really liked how it brought out the statue in the foreground, while you still notice the castle in the background. Actually, there is quite a bit to see in this photo, so hopefully, it isn’t too overwhelming.

Photo: A single RAW exposure, processed in Photoshop. Read more about the photo software and gear I use at the camera gear page.
